You're building something ambitious: a sensor that doesn't exist yet, a robotics system that could redefine an industry, or a quantum chip that most people still think is science fiction. You've validated the core technology. Now you need capital, customers, and the right doors to open.ExciteLab is a high-tech accelerator based in Dresden, Germany, launched in 2024 through a collaboration betweenTU Dresden, theTU Dresden Aktiengesellschaft (TUDAG) andSpinLab. The accelerator program supports startups working in robotics, sensors, IoT, semiconductors, and quantum technologies. Here are ten reasons why deeptech startups should join ExciteLab.

Supply chain sovereignty, artificial intelligence in industry, sustainable hardware, and resilient connectivity infrastructure are currently among the key industrial policy debates in Europe. The fourth batch of ExciteLab addresses these intersections: ten startups from Italy, Germany, Sweden, Norway, and the Czech Republic have now started the acceleration program in Dresden. In close collaboration with partners such as Infineon Technologies, ZEISS and Von Ardenne, the teams gain direct access to industrial expertise, infrastructure, and capital. 

The SpinLab Group, consisting of SpinLab in Leipzig, RootCamp in Hanover, and ExciteLab in Dresden has been awarded with the “Startup Ecosystem Star Award 2025” (SES Award) in the category: Exceptional Industry Support. The award was presented during a ceremony at the headquarters of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris. The Startup Ecosystem Stars Awards are organized by the ICC and Mind the Bridge, in collaboration with the OECD and the European Commission, and supported by Microsoft. They are among the world’s most prestigious recognitions for organizations that measurably strengthen innovation ecosystems.

The third ExciteLab batch arrived in Dresden. Nine startups from fields including semiconductors, medical technology, energy, space, and robotics are presenting their solutions. Their solutions range from rechargeable printable batteries and nanopowders made from rare earths to autonomous underwater robots and a heavy-lift launch system for space. Other projects focus on endoscopy, 3D printing, and physiotherapy. Together, the teams reflect trends in Europe’s deep-tech scene: greater sustainability, reduced dependence on global supply chains, and an increased focus on data-driven processes.
