Who's behind ExciteLab?

ExciteLab – Microelectronics & Robotics Hub was launched in 2024 through a collaboration between the Technical University of Dresden (TUD), TU Dresden Aktiengesellschaft (TUDAG), and SpinLab – Innovation Hub. We run the ExciteLab Accelerator Program, a free six-month program for high-tech startups.
What do you do?

We're the Microelectronics & Robotics Hub in Dresden. Through our free, 4-month Accelerator Program, we support early-stage, high-tech startups in robotics, sensors, IoT, semiconductors, and quantum technology, connecting founders with industry leaders like Infineon, Zeiss and Von Ardenne, tailored 1:1 mentoring, and a global network of investors, without taking any equity.
What makes you unique?

We are the Microelectronics & Robotics Hub in Germany with a dedicated deep-tech focus, based in Dresden, one of Europe's leading microelectronics and high-tech locations. Through the SpinLab Group, we also connect founders to a wider innovation ecosystem across Leipzig (SpinLab) and Hannover (RootCamp).

How can I apply?

We announce upcoming application windows on our social media channels; check there for current deadlines. To apply, submit your pitch deck (10–15 slides, PDF) or a pitch video (7–10 min) together with our official application form on F6S.
What are the requirements to apply?
- Team: a complete founding team of 2–4 people with the necessary skills, and business-level fluency in German or English.
- Idea: an outstanding, unique, and scalable concept.
- Phase: ideally pre-seed or expansion phase; startups with previously closed financing rounds can still apply, since we don't take equity.
- Technology: robotics, sensors, IoT, semiconductors, or quantum.
How much does the program cost?

The program is 100% free and equity-free; we don't take shares or IP from your company.
Do startups get any money from ExciteLab?

Startups can win up to €6,000 in prize money across three awards (Community Award, Academy Award, Best Investors Day Pitch - €2,000 each). Separately, startups that establish or relocate their legal entity to Saxony can additionally receive up to €30,000 in non-dilutive funding via the Sächsische Aufbaubank (SAB).
Important: the SAB funding is only available to startups based in Saxony or willing to relocate there. It's not available to startups that stay based elsewhere.
Is the program only open to startups from Saxony?

No, we welcome applications from Germany and internationally.

Where in Dresden is ExciteLab?

ExciteLab is based at Freiberger Straße 37, 01067 Dresden.
I'm not based in Dresden, how does this work?

The Accelerator Program is hybrid. Our partners' offices in Dresden serve as the focal point for intensive focus weeks, while the rest of the program runs online.

Is there a way to benefit as an established company?

Yes. We facilitate pilot projects between startups and corporate partners like Infineon, SAP and Zeiss, supporting the collaboration from the conceptual phase through execution.
I'm an investor: how can I invest in your startups?

We connect investors with our startups through our network, and startups pitch live in front of investors at our Investors Day.
Are you trustworthy? What happens to my intellectual property?

Absolutely. We don't take any equity, shares, or intellectual property from your company — your venture remains entirely yours throughout and after the program.
