The German Federal Government has presented an updated strategy for startups and scaleups in Germany. More than 3,050 startups were founded in the first half of 2026, while the number of German “unicorns” has also increased. However, young technology companies continue to face challenges, particularly when transitioning from the startup to the scaling phase.
